"Welcoming, protecting and taking care of others is at the heart of what we do.
As we reveive you as family, your safety and well-being is incredibly important to us. So we are doing our very best to take care of you and to offer you a special place of comfort and peace.
Sauternes has always been a „green zone“… and we have worked hard to get ready for the season.
The risk has certainly not disappeared but La Sauternaise is now allowed to reopen with safety precautions in response to the coronavirus. We have signed up to Sawday’s „Clean and safe“ charter which means we follow government cleaning advice and operate as safely as possible in this „new normal“…
Of course, even on holiday, we all have to continue to follow the main rules to protect oneself and others: wash hands, cough and sneeze into your elbow, don’t shake hands, use paper tissues, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, stay 1,5meters (2 arms lengths) away from other people and wear masks when social distancing is impossible.
We have installed alcohol-based hand sanitising gel at the entry so that you can disinfect your hands.
While we have a long and happy tradition of encouraging contact between our guests and ourselves, for the moment, we have to change our habits a little and keep some distance from each other for a while:

We offer you:
- Reservation via our website, email or phone.
- Self check in from 4pm: you will receive by email, text or whatsapp, instructions for finding the place with a detailed map and a guide for self check in with parking and restaurant indications as well as information on how to pick up your room key.
- Payment: by electronic transmission to a secure site of our partner bank, you will then receive your bank receipt by email. We will send you an invoice by email if needed.
- Self check out before 11 am : no particular formality to be completed upon your departure. No need to go to reception except to leave your key on the desk.
- We loved seeing you at breakfast, explaining wine tasting possibilities, local medieval cities, historical castles, giving you leaflets… I will be very pleased to send you „things to do“ literature in advance of your stay digitally instead of leaving hard copies and of course I am available to answer your questions but in respect of social distancing and with masks.

We are adhering to the government cleaning guidelines and do extra careful cleaning. Your room is first washed, cleaned with disposable single use mops and cloths and then disinfected with an ozone generator* to ensure health and safety.
*What is ozone and how exactly does an ozone generator work ?
Ozone is a very powerful sterilizer. It deodorizes, desinfects, kills and eliminates viruses and bacteria on all types of surfaces in indoor environments by oxidation reactions. Bedspreads, curtains, pillows, headboards, duvet are sanitised before you arrive. You can be completely reassured.
*How long does it take for ozone to dissipate ? Is it safe for me ?
After functioning for around 30 minutes (treatment time is adjusted according to room size), ozone will work for around 2 hours for the third oxygen atom to be broken apart and revert back into breathable oxygen. No danger for you or the planet as we handle this technology with care.
We also have a special cleansing routine for your private hammam and wooden benches of the sauna with disinfecting products but you could also use a clean towel or clothing to act as a barrier if you prefer.
We have suspended stayover cleaning services to minimize risks except if you stay for a long time (5 nights and more) when we will offer all our disinfection protocole half way through your stay : clean everything, change all bed and bath linen and run the ozone unit (if you agree, you will be asked to tidy your lugage and leave the room at least for four hours).
Linen procedure
Our laundry uses ozone washing technology, as used for infected linen in hospitals.
During your stay, if you require new bathroom linen, send us your request by text and please, put soiled towels in the white plastic bag provided and place the bag in the covered receptacle provided exclusively for this use in the courtyard. You will find new ones in a new bag with your room number on the table in the dining room when you come back in the afternoon.
New house organisation for post pandemic holidays
Shared spaces and complimentary coffee station are closed indefinitely. Tables in the garden are spaced at least one meter apart and you will have your numbered table throughout your stay which will be desisinfected between each booking.
For breakfast, I will send you a google form to complete to indicate your preferences, where and at what time. Breakfast will wait for you, on time on your table in the garden on sunny days or in front of your door on a tray on rainy days. A third solution could be to allocate time slots in dining room on the table, thoroughly cleaned in between and respecting social distancing. I prepare your breakfast myself with lots of precautions (alcohol gel, mask) and love ! We program the dish washer at the highest temperature.
We are doing everything in our power to reduce dangers of infection and to get things running as smoothy as possible. The health rules change everything a little bit but it is the price we are willing to pay to give our guests peace of mind !

-For any reservation of one room for one or two nights, we offer the possibility to cancel up to 72 hours before arrival, free of charge without penalty, after full price is requested.
-For any reservation of one room for a stay (from 3 nights) in our establishment, we ask the payment of a deposit of 30% of the price of the entire stay. Any cancellation made more than 14 days before arrival is free without penalty.
In case of cancellation occurring less than 14 days before the date of arrival, the full price is requested.
-For any reservation of several rooms for one night in our establishment, we ask the payment of a deposit of 30% of the price of the entire stay. Any cancellation made more than 14 days before arrival is free without penalty.
In case of cancellation occurring less than 14 days before the date of arrival, the full price is requested.
-For any reservation of several rooms for a stay (from 2 nights) in our establishment, we ask the payment of a deposit of 30% of the price of the entire stay. Any cancellation made more than 30 days before arrival is free without penalty.
